Omnia for Agronomists: Data Security

Welcome to the Module

In this module we’ll explore the ways in which Omnia deals with Data Security.

Initially, this will include a tour of the User Permissions built into Omnia itself, but will also consider the way in which Farm Data could be organised.

Finally, we’ll look at the steps the team have taken in order to provide industry leading data security standards.

Introduction to User Permissions

In the clip below, taken from our Connected Farming Broadcast, we discuss the core principles of user management within Omnia.

Introduction to Farm Data

Now that we’ve taken a quick look at controlling User Permissions in Omnia, let’s move on to consider Farm Data more widely.

We’ll start with some basic tips on how to organise data within your Omnia account, before we look at Hutchinsons’ stance on Data Security.

As you’ll see, it is something the business takes incredibly seriously, so take the time to learn about the safeguards that have been put in place.

The Hutchinsons Stance on Data Security

In the clip below, taken from our Connected Farming Broadcast, David Hutchinson discusses the way in which the Business deals with the use of growers’ data.

In Summary

  1. We have certified Omnia Digital Farming under ISO 27001, a rigorous and internationally recognised standard for information security. This means we have achieved a very high benchmark for maintaining the security of your data and obliges us to be annually audited and to demonstrate continual improvement in our processes and procedures.
  2. We were the first organisation to be certified under the Farm Data Principles scheme for the good governance of farm data. This voluntary scheme certifies organisations who take a fair and responsible approach to recognising your rights over your farm data. In short, this means we are fully aligned to the four overarching principles of the scheme:
  • Your data is your data
  • We are clear about the value and benefit of sharing data
  • We keep your data safe
  • We strive to make data easy

We recognise your rights of control over your data

The policies and procedures within these two schemes govern and protect your data. This ensures that it is not shared with anyone, both within the Hutchinsons group of businesses or elsewhere.

HL Hutchinson is a market leader in data-driven precision farming solutions. You can be confident that we will look after your data and not use it in any way without your permission.
