Omnia for Farm Management and Administration: The Production Module

Introduction to the Production Module

Welcome to this section, which will explore use of the Production Module, part of Omnia’s Business Suite.

The Production Module is a powerful tool which allows you to gain insights on your costs, both variable and fixed.

First, let’s hear from Millie Taylor, Services Specialist, on the importance of interrogating costs.

Then we can get into a video covering the module – we’ll pick up some specifics afterwards.

Module Automation

We think it’s important to recap a couple of key points from the video, around automation.

One of the key benefits of the Production module is that it will pull all of the relevant costs from a range of different information sources, which negates the need to sit down and perform additional data entry.

But, for that to work, we need to be aware of what information is being pulled, and from where, so that we can keep this up to date.

Below, we’ll cover these areas.

Variable Costs - Stocks and Tasks

For Variable Costs to be pulled through automatically – there are two key things that need to have happened.

  • The Stocks module needs to have pricing information for each product that has been applied to a crop.
  • The Stock needs to have been added to a completed Task Record.

If a cost is not pulling through to the Production module, one of these two factors is often the reason why, so double check your Stocks module and Field Diary module.

There is a dedicated course for both Stocks and Task Management, if you would like a refresher.

Fixed Costs - Machinery and Tasks

For Fixed Costs to be pulled through automatically, there are again two key things that need to have happened:

  • The Omnia Machinery Shed needs to have been populated with power units and implements, combined into ‘Operations’.
  • Completed task records need to have an ‘Operation’ attached.

As before, if this is not happening as intended then check the Shed Module (under Business), and the Field Diary Module.

For a refresher, check out this course.

Summary: Production Module

Well done, you’ve made it to the end of this section.

You should now have an understanding of:

  • The different ways to view information within the module.
  • How to ensure variable costs can be pulled into the module successfully.
  • How to ensure fixed costs can be pulled into the module successfully.

Thanks for taking the time to learn a little about the Production module.
